The „war important worker“ – Herbert Müller

„My dad did it right. At St. Pauli, he distracted me“

„Blohm & Voss did save my life“

An act of self-preservation… or resistance?

Herbert Müller ignored „Hitler Youth“ and the NSDAP, preferred football to marching along and duelled with Erwin Seeler, father of HSV legend Uwe Seeler, on the pitch. He earned his money on the drawing table. And as his work was considered as „war important“, he could continue with his drawing work instead of having to go to war.

The U-boat parts he was drawing, however, helped to take the life of others: more than 3,000 merchant and war ships were sunk by German U-boats during World War II, killing more than 30,000 people.
