Crystal clear against the right: this is for what FC St. Pauli is known for.
The Millerntor stadium already is a statement itself: “Kein Fußball den Faschisten” (No football for fascists) is written on the Gegengerade stand. “Kein Mensch ist illegal” (No one is illegal), the writing on the Nordkurve stand reminds. Inside, outside and in the neighbourhood of the stadium, uncountable stickers, graffiti, murals as well as many other actions speak out against racism, homophobia and sexism.
It has not always been like this.
The clear position against the far-right is the result of decisions and the commitments made by many people over decades, and every day anew – whether inside the stadium, within the club, in fan clubs and/or “just like that”.
This exhibition wants to tell the story.
“FC St. Pauli gegen Rechts” – this attitude has not always been a part of the club’s DNA. In fact, it is the result of a process in which all people interested in the “magic FC” are a part of. Staying silent or speaking up, taking action or looking away? Everybody has a choice when it comes to taking a stand. In all things large and small: within the club, society and in politics.
When people do not use these choices they put them at risk… until, one day, choices can no longer be made.
