They turn to FC St. Pauli.

On 7 March, the FC St. Pauli club journal publishes an appeal to establish a Rugby department. Shortly after, the complete 6th men’s football team changes over. As early as in July, FC St. Pauli registers his first Rugby team for matches.

(3 September) The new FC St. Pauli Rugby team plays its first ever match against Eimsbütteler TV. Two of the players are Otto and Paul Lang. But on the first team photo taken in the year after, they are not seen anymore.

(December) Due to an order from the Reich sports leader, Paul Lang must stop his sports teacher’s training and is no longer permitted to work as a coach.

(May) The commemorative journal of the Rugby department includes a hand-written advertisement in which a married and job seeking “Herr Lang” is mentioned. Since only one of the brothers is married at that time, it is believed to be Paul. It is the last verifiable reference to him at FC St. Pauli.

After a bodily confrontation with an SS man, Otto Lang decides to flee Germany as to avoid possible acts of revenge. Via Antwerp he gets to South America. In Panama, he meets his later wife. In FC St. Pauli’s commemorative journal to its 25th anniversary, the Lang brothers are not mentioned anymore.

The FC St. Pauli men’s rugby team wins the regional Nordmarkliga-championship against Hamburger SV. Only two years later, almost all players of the Rugby team are conscripted to military service.

(October) The last game of FC St. Pauli Rugby until 1945 is played.

FC St. Pauli adopts uniform statutes submitted by the “Nationalsozialistische Reichsbund für Leibesübungen” ((the national-socialist sports organisation) NSRL) to all German sports clubs. These statutes were mandatory for all German sports clubs – including a section banning “non-Aryans” from membership. In 1935, the club still refrained from adopting such section (which was optional at that time).

Paul Lang is conscripted to “Jews’ services”.

(1 May) The Secret State Police (Gestapo) orders Paul Lang and his wife Lieselotte to move into the “Judenhaus” (Jews’ house) located in Heinrich-Barth-Straße 17.

Otto Lang is permitted to enter the United States.

(14 February) Paul Lang is deported to KZ Theresienstadt.
